Throughout its history, the New Preston Congregational Church played a pivotal role in the community's life. It provided solace and support during times of war, including the Civil War, when members rallied together to aid soldiers and their families. The church also fostered cultural and educational endeavors, hosting lectures, concerts, and gatherings that enriched the lives of its members and neighbors.
As we look forward to the future of our beloved New Preston Congregational Church, we are excited to announce the launch of our Capital Campaign, aimed at securing the preservation and revitalization of this historic treasure.
The Church's Steere and Turner tracker organ was originally installed in 1886 at a cost of $875 and still serves the congregation well.
As part of our Save our Steeple (SOS, get it?) campaign, feel free to bring in your redemption items, drop them in the bin, and we'll apply the dime to the campaign. It is only the proverbial drop in the bucket, but it will help!
The New Preston Congregational Church next meets for worship and fellowship (and music) October 18 at 10:00am
Our next Service with Communion will be November 1 at 10:00am
We have our special events below...
We schedule new events for the parishioners and the community regularly
Every week in the community room, all are welcome!
Held weekly, every Wednesday at 11:30 am
Steeple Structure Repair - Restoring Our Icon: The iconic steeple of our church has graced our town for generations. To preserve its majesty and structural integrity, we must undertake a thorough restoration. Your support will help us safeguard this symbol of our faith and community.
Exterior and Interior Renovation Work - Enhancing Our Church: Beyond preservation, we envision a rejuvenated space for worship, fellowship, and community gatherings. Our campaign includes plans to renovate both the exterior and interior, breathing new life into our cherished church. We have received a matching grant on our engineering study to determine the course of action for our renovation project.
Roof Repair - Preserving Our Sanctuary: Our first priority is the repair of the church's roof, which is essential to protect the integrity of our sanctuary ceiling. Over the years, weathering and wear have taken a toll, and immediate action is needed to prevent further damage. Your contribution will ensure that our sacred space remains safe and beautiful for generations to come.
